On the Other Hand

You all know how I feel about xianity as a whole. I’m not a big fan of the mythology or the ones who believe in it. However, there are xians, and quite a few of them, who actually do what their jesus character told them to do as it comes to charity. They are instructed to give in secret instead of announcing their generosity to be admired by other people, so they do.

I got this information from a few posts that popped up on my Facebook feed. (I get a lot of religious content.) There really are xian ministries who teach their adherents to actually care about other people and help those who may be struggling. I think this is something to admire no matter what mythology one adheres to.

So let’s take a moment to be glad these churches exist. They may be few, but even a few is enough to be grateful for.

  In Which the Pastor Takes Down God No idea is above dissection. While we have touched on a few of the ways in which the god character in monotheistic mythology is deeply flawed, I have yet to do a full-on takedown of the character himself. In this sermon, we will be going back over some ground we have covered before, but this time we are compiling all the most compelling evidence against the entity that monotheistic mythology claims controls the Universe. First, let us enumerate the characteristics of the god character: He is claimed to be all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere, but also lives in big, expensive buildings that only certain people are allowed to enter. An Examination of Genesis

 Having just perused Genesis, I'd like to point out some narrative inconsistencies and plot holes that I have never seen answered or addressed. So, let's start with the story of creation. For one thing, the god character didn't create water; it was already there. Then he separates the water in half lengthwise, putting half the water above the gap and the rest under the gap. As the story moves forward, that upper water is never mentioned again. According to this, though, the planet is not only covered with water, but surrounded by it, as well. Which makes space exploration kind of awkward. The god character also says "let there be light" twice. One interesting thing I noticed was that man was created twice, once during the creation sequence and once afterward. It is in this second story that man was created from dirt and woman crafted from a rib.
